Post #8 Union Station, SHOPPING, and EATING!

While visiting Washington D.C. I stopped by Home Rule, Grids Waffles, and Salt and Pepper Grill. Home rule was an okay store. They had a great selection on girly furniture, but the price was defiantly overrated and not worth it for the quality.

While touring Washington D.C. I came across the Salt and Pepper Grill
and I just had to try it. The food that I ordered was the Chicken Vandalu.
It was really yummy and the smell was amazing. The atmosphere was like
any other diner. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to
try something new and different. The pricing for this place was average
 $10-$20.

I also tried Grids Waffles. They had a good selection on different toppings that you can put on your waffle which was good. I had the waffle with lemon glazed blueberries. I have to say it was the best waffle I ever tried and the pricing was a little bit pricey for a waffle. However, I would recommend this place to anyone who is in Washington D.C.

The California State Senators are Barbara Boxer and Dianne Feinstein
The Representative of the 16th district of California which is San Jose is Zoe Lofgren.

If I were to meet them I would have to make an appointment by calling their office and talk to whomever would be in charge of appointment arranges and request for an appointment. The types of security that I would need to be prepared are for body scanners and metal detectors. The reason why is because Barbara Boxer, Dianne Feinstein, and Zoe Lofgren are important people that represent the state of California and our district. The questions that I would ask my senators and representatives are: Do they enjoy their job? What made them decide to run for State Senator and Representative?

Post #6 The United States Capital Building

While exploring the capitol virtually I noticed that there are many murals, paintings, and portraits. All of these have different important historical backgrounds that represent and define the democracy of the United States. The ones that interested me where the George Washington Portrat, the signing of the Constitution, and the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

The reason why I chose to George Washington portrait was because he was our nation's first president and he is what started and influenced our government from this day till.

Another one that interested me was the signing of the Declaration of Independence. I believe it is important to have it in the capital because it was a document that marked the start of our nation.

Finally, the last piece that interested me the most was the signing of the Constitution. The Constitution gives the government power to keep everything in order, but it also keeps the government from have to much power over the people.

My top three favorite monuments would have to be the National Mall, Abraham Lincoln, and Korean War monuments. These monuments are located near the National Mall in Washington D.C. The impact that these monuments had on me were that they were all so mesmerizing to look at. Each monument had a story behind it like how the Korean War monument honored all those Americans that worked and fought hard under the most difficult circumstances. The Lincoln monument honored Abraham Lincoln as one of the greatest presidents of all time and the National Mall monument is an open-area national park in downtown Washington D.C.

The Supreme Court of the United States is the highest court in the United States. It has ultimate jurisdiction over all federal courts and state courts. The United States Supreme Court consists of a chief justice and eight associate justices whom of which are elected by the President and confirmed by the United States Senate. The building represents the different principles of the American Government. The building represents patriotism because of the big pillars and two flags.

Post #3 The Declaration of Independence and The Constitution

The Declaration of Independence and The Constitution are housed in the National Archives in Washington D.C. The Declaration of Independence is important because it states that a government exists for the benefit of the people and that " All men are created equal" The Constitution is important because it was the document that founded our government. It was the basis of what would form the United States. I found the Declaration of Independence and The Constitution while exploring Washington D.C. virtually. They are kept in a glass container in the National Archives and are protected by security guards and alarms.

While visiting the White House virtually, I explored the inside and outside of the White House. The artifacts and architecture inside the white house were amazing and very interesting to look at. The thing that interested me the most was the architecture and the furniture. I have never seen a building with so many different rooms and amazing furniture. I believe the founding fathers felt that it was important to build a home for our presidents is because they wanted the presidents to be comfortable and be able to do work at the White House.

Dear Nancy Pelosi,

I would like to visit the White House and be able to tour around the inside and be able to look at the different rooms, artifacts, and learn about our countries history. I would also like to visit the presidential office and the different famous rooms around the White House. This is most important to me because there is so much history in each room and I would like to learn and explore these famous rooms and be able to come back home and tell my friends and family what it was like.

Sincerely,

Post #1 What is Washington D.C?

Washington D.C. is the capital of the United States. It is located in the District of Columbia and it is a Federal district. The District is under the exclusive jurisdiction of the United States Congress so it is not a part of any U.S. state. Washington is home to many national monuments and museums around the National Mall. The branches of the federal government of the U.S. are in the District. Including the President, Congress, and Supreme Court.
When I go to Washington D.C. I expect to take tons of pictures next to national monuments and visit many museums to learn the history behind it. I also expect to run into many tourists like me exploring the District of Columbia and being fascinated by all of the statues, monuments, etc.
