Post #1 What is Washington D.C?

Washington D.C. is the capital of the United States. It is located in the District of Columbia and it is a Federal district. The District is under the exclusive jurisdiction of the United States Congress so it is not a part of any U.S. state. Washington is home to many national monuments and museums around the National Mall. The branches of the federal government of the U.S. are in the District. Including the President, Congress, and Supreme Court.
When I go to Washington D.C. I expect to take tons of pictures next to national monuments and visit many museums to learn the history behind it. I also expect to run into many tourists like me exploring the District of Columbia and being fascinated by all of the statues, monuments, etc.
